The above matter has been placed before me by the scrutinizing Regional Magistrate. The accused persons in this matter appeared before a Provincial Magistrate at Esigodini on 8th of January 2019. They faced charges of contravening section 59(a) of the Parks and Wild Life Act (Chapter 20:14), that is, hunting any animal on any land. The accused, a 29 year old single mother of 3 minor children appeared before a Magistrate at Western Commonage facing a charge of contravening section 7(1) of the Children’s Act (Chapter 5:06) “Ill treatment or neglect of children and young person”. The accused was arraigned before this court facing a charge of murder as defined in s 47 (1) of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act [Chapter 9:23].
